The 2022 Ford Ranger is one of the best mid-sized trucks on the market and is designed to take you anywhere you need to go, any time you want to. If you’re interested in creating your own roads, the Ranger is the truck for you.

Basics About the Ford Ranger

The 2022 Ranger comes in three trim levels: XL, XLT, and LARIAT. The truck receives an estimated 21/26 city/hwy mpg with a max towing capacity of 7,500 lbs when equipped with the Trailer Tow Package. The Ranger boasts the only gas turbo engine in its class, the advanced 2.3L EcoBoost engine.

This truck is tough, thanks to its high-strength steel frame and frame-mounted steel bumpers. Its approach and departure angles help it climb hills and clear obstacles, no matter the terrain. Ranger 4×4 models have 8.9-inch ground clearance, while Ranger models with the Tremor Off-Road Package have 9.7 inches of ground clearance. The FX4 and Tremor packages include an exposed steel front bash plate and undercarriage skid plates for further protection.

New and Unique Features

The Terrain Management System has four drive modes to help you navigate even the most challenging terrain and is included in the FX4 and Tremor Off-Road Packages. The modes include Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. Ford Trail Control is a driver-activated cruise control system that helps you navigate across the rough ground so that you can focus all your attention on steering.

The Electronic-Locking Rear Differential locks the axle completely simultaneously at both wheels, providing traction off-road whenever you need it. You can add this individually or have it included in the off-roading packages. The 4×4 Electronic Shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) helps you shift into four-wheel drive at the turn of a dial. ESOF has two four-wheel-drive modes and two-wheel drive for travel on paved roads.

Integrated Technology

The Ranger has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Ford + Alexa App as integrated technology options. Thanks to SYNC 3, you’ll have control over your music and GPS and immediate access to voice commands. Thanks to the three technology features, it won’t matter what kind of smart device you have.

With FordPass Connect, owners and passengers have access to an available 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot powered by AT&T. You can connect up to 10 devices at once and use the FordPass to keep track of your data usage. This feature does require an AT&T account and network connection.
