There are many factors that go into choosing your new Ford F150 or Super Duty. The engine is one of the most important factors. With 6 engines to choose from in the F150 and 3 to choose from in the Super Duty, let’s go over the highlights to pick which engine is best for you.

 

The 6 available engines in the F150 are:

• 3.5L Powerboost Full Hybrid V6 Engine
• 3.0L Power Stoke Turbo Diesel
• 3.5L Ecoboost V6
• 5.0L TI-VCT V8
• 2.7L Ecoboost V6
• 3.3L TI-VCT V6

 

The 3 available engines in the Super Duty are:

• 7.3L OHV PFI Gas V8
• 6.7L Power Stoke V8 Turbo Diesel Engine
• 6.2L Flex-Fuel Gas V8

 

The highest towing capacity on the F150 is with the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 engine that has a maximum of 14,000 lbs.. When going to the Super Duty, the maximum towing capacity is 37,000 lbs. with the 6.7L Power Stoke V8 Turbo Diesel Engine.

 

On the F150 XL and XLT we see a standard 3.3L TI-VCT V6 with a 10-speed transmission. This engine will produce up to 290 HP and a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 lbs..

 

The F150 Lariat comes standard with the 2.7L Ecoboost V6 engine. This engine produces 325 HP and provides up to 13,00lbs. of towing capacity. The King Ranch comes with a 55.0L TI-VCT V8 engine. This engine will produce 400 HP and provide up to 13,000 lbs. of towing capabilities.
