Located about 30 miles south of downtown Columbus and not far from numerous sprawling state parks and nature reserves, the city of Circleville, OH is an excellent base to go on fantastic day trips with your family or a group of friends. Whether you are into museums, historical monuments, hiking trails, or idyllic lakes, these are three great destinations you can easily reach in your shiny 2022 Ford Bronco Sport.

1. Tar Hollow State Park

Established in 1949 and spanning an area of about 600 acres, Tar Hollow State Park is a beautiful nature reserve that offers excellent opportunities for numerous outdoor activities. With scenic picnic spots along the shores of Pine Lake, fully equipped campgrounds, and an extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails, this state park welcomes thousands of visitors each year from all over Ohio.

Located a little under 25 miles southeast of downtown Circleville, Tar Hollow State Park can be reached in about half an hour by car, making it an excellent spot to spend a day away from the city. Popular activities include picnicking, birding, wildlife watching, camping, and selective hunting. Boating, swimming, and fishing are also allowed in designated areas of the lake.

2.  Columbus

If you are looking for a vibrant city with good restaurants, historical attractions, famous landmarks, and an endless number of activities for visitors of all ages and preferences, the Ohio state capital is an excellent destination. With a population of a little over two million in its metropolitan area, Columbus is an important cultural and economic powerhouse in the region, as well as a popular tourist destination.

Originally populated by a series of Native American communities, the modern city of Columbus grew from a small European town founded in 1797. Nowadays, the place is home to beautiful historical landmarks and is a popular destination among day trippers from Circleville and other nearby towns. Some of the spots you should check out while in town include the Ohio Statehouse building, the Scioto Mile, the Columbus Museum of Art, and the Short North Arts District.

3. Paint Creek State Park

Located a little under 40 miles southwest of downtown Circleville, Paint Creek State Park is a fantastic destination for those wanting to spend some time in nature and take a break from the routine. This nature reserve covers an area of about 5,600 acres and is a top-rated spot for fishing, swimming, boating, picnicking, selective hunting, hiking, and camping. Getting here takes a little under one hour by car along route OH-138.
