Spring in and around Circleville, OH, is a festive time of year full of exciting spring activities. Get behind the wheel of a Ford EcoSport, Bronco, or Expedition and join the fun at all the fantastic events and festivals below.

1. Potting Party

The Rhoads Garden Center at 1051 Street Route 56 East in Circleville celebrates spring each year at the end of April with a Potting Party between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Roll up your sleeves and prepare for spring gardening by creating a stunning container garden with the help of the center’s expert gardening team.

The center will provide everything you need, show you how to assemble your container garden, and keep it looking beautiful throughout the season while you sip a glass of wine. Only drink the wine if you’re an adult, drink responsibly, and please don’t drive.

2. Gold Cliff – Arbor Day Open House

Spend an afternoon and early evening on the rolling green lawns of Gold Cliff Park, a fantastic event and wedding venue at 27340 US Route 23 in Circleville, between noon and 8 p.m. in support of the Pickaway County Dog Shelter. Stroll through the beautiful 25-acre park, and enjoy delicious food and music at the Shawnee Picnic Shelter.

3. Spring Bird Hike

Head to Canal Park at 23352 Canal Road in  Circleville on April 29 at 9 a.m. to enjoy a spring morning hiking with the Pickaway County Park District on the annual Spring Bird Hike, an extension of the Pickaway County Park District bird checklist program.

The Spring Bird Hike starts in Canal Park on the west bank of the scenic Scioto River and follows the trail to the pristine Calamus Swamp, a 19-acre kettle hole formed during the last ice age to catch glimpses of marsh birds and waterfowl along the way.

4. Viking Festival

One spring event you don’t want to miss is the annual Viking Festival on the last Saturday and Sunday of April every year in the Ashville Community Park at 165 Walnut Street in Ashville, 9.4 miles from Circleville. Meet expert craftsmen and artisans displaying Viking-themed leather goods, hand-woven textiles, furs, wood carvings, and pewter products.

Attend 15th-century weapons demonstrations on King Herald’s Battlefield and watch the Daring Douglasses, Bjorn’s Bellydance, and the PB and J Circus on the Greenland Stage. Join the feasts in Heimdall’s Horn a’ Plenty and Thor’s Feast Hall, or grab a bite to eat at one of the food stops on the way to the Grove of Heroes, a historic timeline through the ages. The festival is free, but please bring a canned food donation for the Ashville Food Pantry.

Ring in spring by learning how to create a beautiful container garden, enjoy an afternoon of good food and music supporting the local dog shelter, go on a scenic birdwatching excursion, and get transported back to the time of the Vikings. Before you hit the road, call Coughlin Ford of Circleville today for a maintenance appointment and ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape for fun spring outings.
