Midsize SUVs have much to offer all sorts of drivers, which is why they've become one of the most popular classes of vehicles on the market. While numerous models are available, some tend to stand out among the rest. One of the most notable models is the new 2023 Ford Edge with its array of alluring features you may not want to miss out on. Take a closer look at the new Edge to discover if it's right for you.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Edge comes in five trim levels, so there's plenty of room for customization regarding its exterior features. The base-level trim is the SE, and it comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED taillights, and LED daytime running lights. Active grille shutters are standard at the beginning, too. Upgrade to the SEL trim, and you also get power outboard mirrors.
More serious upgrades begin at the ST-Line trim level, which boasts stylish 20-inch gloss-black wheels and upgraded front and rear lower fascias. Upgrade to the Titanium for alloy wheels. You also get the option for the Elite package, which adds a power rear liftgate. The ultimate trim is the ST, which is outfitted with a dual-tip exhaust, fog lights, and enhanced lower-body cladding.
Engine (Power)
Two engines are available for the new Edge, and they both pack plenty of power. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 250 horsepower with 280 pound-feet of torque. If that's not quite enough for you, the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 offers an immense amount of power considering the overall size of the Edge. Exclusive to the ST trim, this engine boasts an impressive 335 horsepower with 380 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
One of the most important factors in a midsize SUV's performance is control, and you'll find plenty of features to help in that regard when it comes to the new Edge. The chassis has been retuned for the 2023 model year to make cornering easier. You can also outfit your Edge with a new Sport Mode setting that lets you push your SUV's performance as far as it can go. Models with the V-6 engine additionally come with paddle shifters.
Interior
The inside of the Ford Edge has plenty of room for passengers and cargo alike. In fact, you can put someone in every seat and still have 39.2 cubic feet of space for cargo in the back. Fold down the rear seats, though, and you get 73.4 cubic feet of space. The interior technology is also quite impressive thanks to the SYNC 4A infotainment system. You even get a 12-inch touchscreen interface.
Safety Features
Safety is among the most important features in any vehicle, and the Edge certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard. It comes equipped with the Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance features that include common favorites like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. If that's not enough for you, you'll find additional available systems like adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist.
